Sorry Mago I think you're wrong. I pulled down my carb (same model as Crash Dummy's) and it had the standard 60 idle jet and I've had a 97 main fitted to it. Runs very well. The problem lies elsewhere.

Just to note. I've tried the bike with the stock carby again and it runs fine. The problem is with the new carby.
Now some detail on the carby problem. It's looking more like the float level is too low and the engine is starving for fuel.
That explains the dry looking plug if i just hold the throttle open till the engine stops.
Anyway. I'm getting on top of the problem. Thats the main thing.

Thats the height of the fuel from the top of the bowl.

Alright guys. Here's the problem
The float level was absolutely off by miles. I compared the fuel level between using a genuine float and the one that came in my 19mm Del Rep carby and the replica gave a fuel height a solid 4mm higher. So when the bowl is installed it's at the top just before the seal where it should be.
So there ya go. Genuine Dellorto carby fixed with rep bits. I could have bent the floats in the carby but why bother when the rep ones will do the job just as good.
I gave the bike a blat around the back yard with much better result. No stoppage this time in the short time I was able to give it some.
But it did wheel spin on grass that's a good sign despite taller gearing then i used to run and very fat mixture. So I haven't had on on the pipe yet I can't wait.

So there she is starting up well. I've since adjusted the idle mix so it's not boggy transistioning from idle to 1/4 throttle now and doesn't bog and kill the engine on over run.

LMAO you have got to be joking mago. the only thing youve hinted at was the idle jet which was obviously not right. no where did you mention the float level.
you should really stop posting so much. please. if only for your own sake.
and sounding good crash its all looking pretty tough

Not likely. When I can go with someone else I'll be there for a practice.
I'm from the Newcastle area so it's one hell of a drive.

A huge embarrised emoticon goes riiiight here..
I just learnt today my understanding of the function of the jets in a Dellorto 19mm was wrong. I've been thinking my starter jet was the idle jet which is a 60.
As it turns out my idle jet was a 45. Which has now been replaced with a 50.
She's all sweet now.
