alright here goes. just finished up setting the banshees carb which is 100% and running great.

having that bike now made me realise just how crap my dreambike is running so i tackled that today. i read that with the 266AN atomizer you have to use massive jet sizes (up to 120 apparently) to get them running right so i turfed in the biggest jet i had which is a 105 and yes the mid range definitely picked up a ton (couldnt test the top end where i am but seems to go just as good)

low end is still a pig. coming off idle it will just bog down and barely rev up. seems as though when it gets on the needle - main jet itll rev out and go just fine. but the progress and idle circuits just suck just as bad as before. adjusting the idle mix hasnt helped get rid of this problem. idle jet is a 50 which im thinking is too rich?

heres a video of it doing it on the stand. on the ground when your on it, itll just sit there not picking up revs for 2 seconds or so when it will shoot off like a rocket lol.

BUT i noticed by accident if i put the choke on, it runs perfect! the idle runs up to 7000rpm however. i thought it just went better because of the high idle but i wound that down to normal and yes it runs a metric sh*tload better on choke.

i just have no idea what that indicates. i thought the choke only introduced more fuel via the starter jet so it seems i need to jet up somewhere fairly significantly.. but why does it idle up? seems like thats what it would do if it was leaning out...

any ideas where to go from here Confused the motor has a ton more power to give i just cant get it out of this farking carby!!! and its a 18mm dellorto btw.

if once warm, the engine runs better with the choke, then its running too lean

I'll help you out on Sunday.
BTW, make sure you clean your entire carb (i.e remove all fuel, jets, atomiser etc and clean all orifices [carb cleaner or WD-40] and wash all parts in warm soapy water, followed by a rinse in clean cold water and air dry on newspaper or use compressed air). Dissasemble your air filter and clean with fuel and let dry. If it is a Malossi, leave the outer casing off when fitting back on.
My feeling is that you need some adjusting of the idle mixture screw.
Also put in a new plug.
See you Sunday Wink
