Well, interesting times ahead for all teams this w/e.
The new tyre rules combined with nobody testing at this circuit on 800cc will see who has got their theoretical setup sorted out and then who can fine tune it to max potential.
Stoner has an excellent chance to gain another win here. The circuit is a horsepower circuit and will suit the Ducati top end. He can ride relaxed through the twisty bits with the comforting knowledge that hp will rule once on the long main straight. Rossi will be digging deep, but I doubt if Yamaha have overcome the horsepower deficiency of the M1 yet. Hopefully Vale can produce a win, but it is a circuit where he is yet to stand on the top rung of the podium. Pedrosa should go well here also as the Honda has quite a bit of top end hp too. Hayden, well the guy is struggling to adapt to the 800cc as he has a dirt track background which is cool with plenty of hp to spin up the rear sideways as on the 990cc. The 800cc doesn't quite deliver that sort of characteristic, so the high corner speed style of former 250cc guys lends itself to a better way around the circuit.
Melandri unfortunately will most likely struggle as Honda continue to push development with Pedrosa and Hayden so he will miss out on any factory special kit. Colin Edwards may prosper, but is a long shot. Loris has to pull his finger now that 'Riccardo' has arrived. The Suzuki duo of Hopper and Chris Vermeulen could be the dark horses here also.
All up an entertaining w/e is expected.
